About

up to Ch.3

Dub is one of the working dogs on Buck's sled team in The Call of the Wild by Jack London. An awkward blunderer who is forever getting caught and punished — sometimes even for another dog's misdeeds — he is nonetheless a faithful worker who pulls his weight on the long, brutal hauls of the Klondike trail.

Dub labors alongside the rest of the team, among them Buck, the leader Spitz, the steady wheeler Dave, the malingerer Pike, and the husky brothers Billee and Joe, under the drivers Perrault and François. When the team's discipline frays, Dub joins the others in pushing back against Spitz's authority.
