Nig is a huge black dog belonging to John Thornton in The Call of the Wild by Jack London. Half bloodhound and half deerhound, with eyes that laughed and a boundless good nature, he is one of the dogs in Thornton's camp who befriends Buck.

Friendly though less demonstrative than the setter Skeet, Nig will stalk up and rest his great head on Thornton's knee. Too good-natured for quarrelling, he and Skeet keep peaceable company around their master.
